
Mechelle Lewis
Mechelle Lewis, the youngest of a set of twin girls, is a Maryland native and graduate of the University of South Carolina where she obtained her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mass Communications.
After working in New York City at Young & Rubicam Advertising Agency, she returned her focus to her all-time passion, Track & Field. Mechelle went on to become a 2007 Pan American double Silver Medalist, a 2007 World Champion and a 2008 Olympian. Her events include the 100 meters and the 4×100 meter relay.
Through her awareness campaign, BEvolved (Be Evolved), Mechelle currently uses her platform to reach out to the community to speak against obesity and help youth recognize self-worth and courage. BEvolved was started by Mechelle in an effort to educate and transform the way people define “healthy.” She is committed to inspiring others to acknowledge, understand and reach their full potential and serves as a vessel in helping raise a healthier generation of America’s youth. BEvolved’s mission is to enable individuals to be transformed throughout their mind, body and spirit by providing essential knowledge and exposure to prepare people to live an OVERALL healthy lifestyle. As a U.S. Olympian, Mechelle will lead the “BEvolved” campaign to advocate for the U.S. National Physical Activity Plan and partner with the ‘nPLAY Foundation, bringing community partners together through events, to become actively engaged in the fight against Childhood Obesity.
Mechelle is also a certified Zumba Instructor and is dedicated to healthy-living awareness and fitness. She currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina where she is training for the London 2012 Olympics Games.
